The Utah Jazz Have A “Tribute” To Michael Jordan At Their Arena - originally posted on Sportslens.com

We are more than 25 years removed from the 1998 NBA Finals, but the Utah Jazz are still holding onto a grudge from their loss to the Chicago Bulls in that series.

Utah Jazz Change Wi-Fi Name In Area To “JordanPushedOff”

Did Michael Jordan push off? In what would be his final game as a member of the Bulls, Jordan and his team were down by 1 point in the closing minute of Game 6. They were up 3-2 in the series, and looking to avoid having to play a Game 7 in front of another boisterous Salt Lake City crowd. Michael Jordan stole the ball from Karl Malone with 20 second on the clock and jogged the ball up the floor.

With nine second left, Jordan made his move. With Byron Russell playing defense, Jordan drove to the top of the circle above the free throw line and took a hard jab step. When he did, he placed his left hand on Russell’s behind and appeared to give him a shove out of the way. Jordan rose up and drained the shot with 6 seconds left, providing for one of the most iconic moments in NBA history.

Jazz Made The Move For Their 50th Anniversary

The Jazz would have probably liked to forget the moment, but they apparently haven’t. The team is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and have taken a humorous jab at Jordan and the memorable moment that kept them from winning an NBA Championship.

For the 2023-24 season, the Wi-Fi name at the Delta Center has been changed, and now reads “JordanPushedOff”.

Team owner Ryan Smith recently appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, and he and the crew had a laugh when the (likely temporary) name change.

The two teams had an inter-conference rivalry in the late 90s. They met in the Finals in back-to-back seasons, with the Bulls coming out victorious each time, preventing Karl Malone and John Stockton from winning elusive championship rings late in their careers. Jordan would go on to play for the Wizards in the twilight of his playing days, but his final shot against Russell and the Jazz will always be the iconic stamp on his illustrious career.

The Houston Rockets Have Won 4 Straight And Are Dominating Their Opponents - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Houston Rockets have been at the bottom of the NBA standings for the last three years. Under coach Stephen Silas, the team has an overall record of 59-177, and finished in last place in the Western Conference in each of those seasons. But the roster and management underwent a bit of an overhaul in the offseason, and things could be turning around in Houston if they keep up their current pace.

Houston Rockets Have Been Dominant In November

Silas was fired as the team’s head coach, and the Rockets brought in Ime Udoka to replace him. They went out and spent in free agency, too, adding veterans Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks, adding to their young core that was led in scoring by Jalen Green. There were mild expectations coming into the 2023-24 season, and it was thought to be a building and developmental year for the Rockets in the deep Western Conference.

The season started off the way that the previous ones had gone. Houston dropped the first three games on their schedule, losing to the Orlando Magic by 30 points on opening night before being defeated by the Spurs and Warriors.

But then, a switch was apparently flipped. Beginning with their game against the Hornets on November 1st, the Rockets have now won four games in a row. After defeating Charlotte, they picked up back-to-back wins against the Kings, before demolishing the Lakers in the first meeting between Brooks and LeBron James since last year’s playoff drama.

Defense Leading The Way For Houston

The Rockets haven’t just been winning, they’ve been dominating their opponents. In the four wins, they have outscored their opponents by a combined 86 points, and have allowed fewer than 100 points in each of their last three. Their defense ranks in the top-10 in the league in essentially all of the major categories.

The early season schedule is certainly doing them some favors. Both the Kings and Lakers were Western Conference playoff teams last year, so they are beating formidable opponents. But after playing their first two games on the road, the Rockets are currently in the middle of a home stand that last 15+ days, which doesn’t include four days off before their third road game of the season on November 17th. That “road trip” will last three games against all California teams before coming back to Houston for two games.

It is of course a small sample size, and the Rockets have plenty of season left ahead of them. But the early returns are good for what could be one of the surprise teams in the West this season.

Heat Injury Report: Tyler Herro Out Multiple Weeks With Ankle Injury - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Miami Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro is expected to miss multiple weeks after he suffered a sprained ankle in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Herro left the game at the end of the first quarter after he landed on Jaren Jackson Jr’s foot after going up for a floater. He instantly could not put any weight on it and hopped to the locker room. He did not return. Herro stated that he heard “crunching and cracks” in his ankle which is never good. Luckily there have been no reports about it being any more sever than a sprain, so a few weeks of rest and recovery should be amicable for Herro to get back on the court.

This is a huge loss for the Miami Heat. Herro is quietly having the best season of his young career. He is averaging a career high in points, rebounds, and assists per game. Herro is still one of the more underrated combo guards in the NBA. In the meantime, the Heat will have to rely on veteran players like Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo more than usual. Other players like Duncan Robinson and rookie Jamie Jaquez Jr. will see increased run for the Miami Heat as well.

The Miami Heat are favorites to win the Southeast Division at +120 according to Florida sportsbooks.

The Heat are in a somewhat competitive Southeast Division. It seems like the only other competition in the long run are the Atlanta Hawks who boast a 4-3 record. The Miami Heat are currently 4-4 and hold the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference if the playoffs started today. It remains to be seen how long Herro will be out. It is unlikely we see him at all until next month at the earliest.

NBA Odds: Three Prop Bets For Thursday’s Bucks Vs. Pacers Game Via BetOnline - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks will be on the road to face the Indiana Pacers. Both teams are coming off home wins on Wednesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are 5-2 after their 120-118 win vs. the Pistons. Damian Lillard scored a team-high 34 points for Milwaukee. Antetokoumnpo led the team in rebounds (9) and assists (5) on Wednesday. Milwaukee is on the road tonight to face the Pacers.

Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers beat the Jazz 134-118 at home on Wednesday for their fifth win of the season. Indiana is now 5-3 and has a tough matchup tonight vs. the Bucks. The Pacers are averaging a league-best (126.0) points per game in 2023-24. However, their defense is the fifth-worst in the NBA allowing (121.3) points per game. Haliburton and the Pacers will be at home again on Thursday to face the Bucks.

The Bucks are favored (-3) on the road vs. the Pacers on Thursday night

Ahead of Thursday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NBA bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Bucks vs. Pacers game.

NBA Odds: Prop Bets for Bucks vs. Pacers game on NBA TV

1. Tyrese Haliburton Over 11.5 assists @ (-121) via BetOnline

Last season, Tyrese Haliburton enjoyed a year where he averaged 20.7 points and 10.4 assists per game. He earned his first all-star selection in 2022-23 with the Pacers and has quickly become a franchise favorite. Haliburton is a true PG who thrives on setting up his teammates. The 23-year-old is also a talented scorer at all three levels and has a bright future with the Pacers.

In 2023-24, Haliburton is leading the NBA with (11.9) assists per game. He was just shy of leading the league in assists last year with 10.4, but James Harden’s 10.7 just barely beat him. Tonight, his O/U for assists is set at (11.5) vs. the Bucks. Haliburton has had over 11.5 assists in five of his seven games this season.

2. Brook Lopez Over 1.5 made threes @ (-114) via BetOnline

Brook Lopez is getting older, but he still finds ways to be an effective player for Milwaukee. He’s in his sixth season with the team and has started all seven games for the Bucks in 2023-24. Lopez is playing fewer minutes per game this season and that’s led to his scoring numbers being down. However, the one-time all-star is still effective from beyond the arc this season.

The veteran big man is averaging (2.0) three-point makes and (5.1) three-pointers attempted per game. Two threes made per game is his highest average since 2018-19. Tonight, Lopez’s O/U for made threes is at (1.5) vs. the Pacers. He’s gone over that number in four of his seven games this season. Taking his over for three-pointers made is a strong bet.

3. Bruce Brown Over 12.5 points @ (-109) via BetOnline

After winning the Finals with the Nuggets in 2023, Bruce Brown decided to test the waters of free agency. While staying with the Nuggets could mean competing for another title, Brown rightfully wanted a payday he deserved. To get it, he had to leave the Nuggets and he signed a two-year, $45 million deal with the Indiana Pacers.

Brown has started in all eight games for the Pacers this season, averaging (11.3) points, (4.0) rebounds, (2.1) assists, and (1.0) steals. Tonight, Brown’s O/U for points is at (12.5) vs. the Bucks. He’s gone under that number in five of his eight games in 2023-24. The 27-year-old might have a chance to score more tonight with a Bucks defense that is not the same this season without Jrue Holiday.

Joel Embiid and the 76ers are 6-1 to start the 2023-24 season and are thriving without James Harden - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The 76ers started the 2023-24 season with a loss to the Bucks in their first game. Since then, the Sixers have won six in a row and are first in the Eastern Conference. On Wednesday, the Sixers were at home to play the Celtics and won 106-103. Joel Embiid had another emphatic double-double for Philly.

Through his first seven games of the season. Embiid is averaging a league-leading (31.7) points along with (10.9) rebounds per game. He’s the first Sixers player to average 30 and 10 through the first seven games of a season since Wilt Chamberlain in 1965-66. Incredible company for Embiid to join as he continues to cement his legacy with the 76ers.

Joel Embiid and the Sixers are enjoying a six-game win streak

When the Sixers traded James Harden, it looked like it was going to be a big loss for the team. He led the league in assists per game (10.7) last season. However, the Sixers are thriving without Harden and other players have stepped into larger roles this season. Tyrese Maxey is one of those players who’s flourishing with more chances to score and set up his teammates.

Maxey averaged (20.3) points, (2.9) rebounds, and (3.5) assists per game in 2022-23. In a bigger role with the Sixers this season, Maxey is averaging a career-high (25.4) points, (5.1) rebounds, and (7.0) assists in 2023-24. The 23-year-old could easily earn his first all-star selection this season if he continues to play at this dominant pace.

Over their next three games, the Sixers will play the Pistons once and then the Pacers twice. Philadelphia could extend that win streak to nine if they continue to play their brand of basketball. Joel Embiid is still the centerpiece of the Sixers, but the team has a number of other selfless players who make a huge impact. Is this finally the year the 76ers make the ECF after losing in the second round for three straight postseasons?

Tonight, the San Antonio Spurs will be on the road at 7:30 p.m. EST to face the New York Knicks. Both teams are 3-4 coming into this contest. Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs are currently on a two-game losing streak. Their last game was a 152-111 loss on the road to the Pacers.

For the Knicks, they won their last matchup on Monday, 119-97 vs. the Clippers at home. Jalen Brunson is leading the team with (22.1) points per game this season. Mitchell Robinson leads the team with (12.4) rebounds per game and will have a big matchup tonight vs. Victor Wembanyama. Robinson is an excellent defender, but Wembanyam’s size has been hard for most players to stop.

Victor Wembanyama will play his first career game at MSG tonight when the Spurs face the Knicks

Ahead of Monday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NBA bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Spurs vs. Knicks game.

NBA Odds: Prop Bets for Spurs vs. Knicks game on ESPN

1. Julius Randle Over 4.5 assists @ (+117) via BetOnline

This season, Julius Randle is leading the Knicks with (4.9) assists per game. Jalen Brunson is averaging (4.6) rebounds per contest, but Randle has a slight advantage. The 28-year-old is doing a little bit of everything for the Knicks to start the season. Randle is averaging (15.6) points, (10.4) rebounds, and a team-leading (4.9) assists per game. New York is 3-4 through their first seven games of 2023-24.

Tonight, Randle’s O/U for assists is set at (4.5) vs. the Spurs. He’s gone over that number in three of his seven games played this season. Randle averaged a career-high (6.0) assists per game in 2020-21 and could smash that number if he continues to find his teammates. The Knicks will host the Spurs tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST.

2. Victor Wembanyama over 30.5 points, rebounds, and assists @ (-110) via BetOnline

There’s no question that San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is one of the most popular players in the NBA. It’s not every day that you see someone his size with such talent and skill. Through his first seven games as a rookie, Wembanyama is third in the NBA with (2.6) blocks per game. Additionally, he’s averaging (19.4) points, (8.4) rebounds, (1.7) assists, and (1.3) steals per game.

Heading into his first game at MSG, Wembanyama’s O/U for points, rebounds, and assists is set at (30.5) vs. the Knicks. He’s gone over that number three times already this season. Wemby had 38/10/2 along with two blocks and one steal last Thursday vs. Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. The 19-year-old is a special player who’s always drawing attention from the media.

3. Immanuel Quickley Under 1.5 made threes @ (-106) via BetOnline

Last season, Immanuel Quickley played in 81 of New York’s 82 games and made 21 starts. The 24-year-old is a solid backup PG/SG for the Knicks who can be plugged into the starting lineup when needed. This season, Quickley is averaging (14.6) points per game, but his three-point percentage has been down in 2023-24. Quicljey \

He shot (.370) percent from being the arc last year and is shooting (.324) in seven games this season. It’s still early, but Knicks fans don’t like seeing his three-point efficiency drop. Quickley’s O/U for three’s made is at (1.5) tonight. Taking the under is a smart play vs. the Spurs. He’s gone under that number in five of his seven games this season.

Clippers Injury Report: Terance Mann will make his 2023-24 season debut tonight for Los Angeles - originally posted on Sportslens.com

A little over a week ago, the 76ers and Clippers made a deal that sent Harden to LA. The Clippers now have Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Harden all in the starting lineup. In their first game together, the Clippers’ new starting five lost 11-97 to the Knicks on Monday.

Tonight, the Clippers will finish their three-game road trip in Brooklyn to face the Nets. Making his season debut for Los Angeles is Terance Mann who missed the first six games with an ankle injury. He’ll be on a minutes restriction, but Mann is another valuable depth piece for a Clippers team that wants to make a deep postseason run later in the year.

Terance Mann is expected to make his season debut tonight for the Clippers

In 2019, Terance Mann was a second-round pick by the Clippers, going 48th overall. He’s grown since the time he was drafted and is a key player for the Clippers even if he doesn’t start this season. Mann has been used to that over his career with LA. He played 81 games in 2021-22 and another 81 games in 2022-23. The 27-year-old has also made at least 30 starts in each of those two seasons.

Shortly before the start of 2023-24, Mann injured his ankle. That caused him to miss the Clippers’ first six games of the season, but he’ll be back tonight vs. the Nets. Mann was speculated in trades all offseason by the Clippers. However, he was one player that the team insisted on keeping. Terance Mann is valued highly by the Clippers.

Mann played a career-high (28.6) minutes per game in 2021-22. Last season, his minutes per game dropped to (23.1) when Russell Westbrook was acquired in-season by the Clippers. While the team has added two former MVPs in the last calendar year, they never let go of Mann and that says something. He’ll make his season debut in his hometown of Brooklyn tonight vs. the Nets.

Pistons Depth Chart: After starting 73 games in 2022-23, Jaden Ivey has been a bench player this season for Detroit - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Last season, the Pistons proved they were all-in for the future of the franchise. They signed former Suns’ head coach Monty Williams to a six-year, $78.5 million contract. That made him the highest-paid head coach in the league and he’s got a lot of work to do.

Detriot finished 17-65 last year and the Pistons are 2-6 through their first eight games in 2023-24. One major change the Pistons have made this season was moving PG Jaden Ivey to a bench role. Last season, the 21-year-old started 73 of his 74 games played for Detroit. Under his first full season with Monty Williams, Ivey has not started a single game in 2023-24.

Could Jaden Ivey be a possible trade target if he continues to see a reduced role for the Detroit Pistons?

At PG this season, head coach Monty Williams has used Killian Hayes as the starter. His backup in 2022-23 was Detroit’s first-round draft pick in 2022, Jaden Ivey. He was selected 5th overall by Detroit. Hayes was the 7th overall pick in 2020 by the Pistons. In just one full season with the Pistons, Ivey had more production than Hayes has had in any of his first four years as a pro.

However, Ivey is still coming off the bench in 2023-24 for the Pistons. He’s played in six of their eight games this season. Ivey did not play in either of their last two contests. Despite having a reduced rule this season, Ivey is still making the most of the minutes he’s gotten. In over 10 fewer minutes per game, he’s improved his field foal and three-point percentage in his sophomore season.

If he continues to see a smaller role this season, teams around the league could start calling about Ivey. He was a top 5 draft pick and those players usually don’t come off the bench and barely play 20 minutes per game. There are plenty of teams around the NBA that would love to have the production of Jaden Ivey in their starting five. For now. he’s with the Pistons, but we’ll have to monitor his situation as the season progresses.

NBA: Nikola Jokić Passes LeBron James In Career Triple-Doubles - originally posted on Sportslens.com

LeBron James was in his 13th year in the NBA when Nikola Jokić was drafted in 2015, but the Denver Nuggets forward has somehow already caught up to him in one of the more impressive statistical categories.

NBA: Nikola Jokić Passes LeBron James In Career Triple-Doubles

Jokić has been one of the top offensive threats in the league for some time now. He is able to put up some of the most impressive stat lines that we see around the NBA today, as he is known for racking up his assist and rebound numbers while maintaining a 24+ point scoring average. He has never officially averaged a triple-double for a season, but he came dangerously close last year, coming to within a handful of assists of completing the accomplishment.

But that is not to say that Jokić isn’t a triple-double machine. He averaged one during the Western Conference Finals last postseason, and entered the 2023-34 season with the third-most of any active player.

He now has the second-most. In the Nuggets’ 18 point win over the Pelicans on Monday night, Jokić recorded his third triple-double in the first 8 games of the season, which puts him at 108 total for his career. That number surpasses James’ 107, as Jokić is now behind only Russell Westbrook in terms of active players. He was able to accomplish the feat in 813 fewer games played than James.

Will It Be Possible To Catch Westbrook?

Will Jokić be able to reach Westbrook’s all-time record of 198? The point guard is still active for the Clippers, though he doesn’t put up the gaudy numbers that he once did with his advancing age. He had four triple-doubles last season and has yet to accomplish the feat yet in 2023-24, meaning that he’ll likely be hovering around the 200 mark for some time.

Jokić has played 563 games in his career, meaning that he averages a triple-double once every 5.21 games. If he stays on his current pace, he’ll reach 200 in roughly 480 more games, or seven seasons of 65 games played. While his pace has been impressive so far, it would take a long and extended career from Jokić to become the all-time leader in the NBA.

Nikola Jokić entered the season as the favorite to win the MVP award, and he is holding on to that designation early in the season, coming in at +300.

NFL Odds: Three Prop Bets For Monday’s Chargers Vs. Jets Game Via BetOnline - originally posted on Sportslens.com

To end Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season, the Chargers will be on the road to face the Jets. Los Angeles is coming off a 30-13 win last Sunday vs. the Bears. Justin Herbert had 298 passing yards and three touchdowns to bring the Chargers’ record to 3-4 this season. They’ll be facing a tough Jets team tonight who are starting to hit their stride.

New York has won three games in a row and is coming off a 13-10 win vs. the Giants in OT. The Jets are 4-3 this season and they could be the only AFC East team to win this week if they beat the Chargers. Miami, Buffalo, and New England all lost in Week 9. Zach Wilson will get the chance to play on primetime tonight when the Jets host the Chargers on MNF.

The New York Jets will host the LA Chargers on MNF in Week 9

Ahead of Monday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NFL bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Chargers vs. Jets game.

NFL Odds: Prop Bets for Chargers vs. Jets game Week 9

1. Austin Ekeler Over 48.5 rushing yards @ (-121) via BetOnline

This season, Austin Ekeler has already missed four games for the Chargers. He played in Week 1 and then proceeded to miss the next four weeks. Ekeler returned for the Chargers in Week 6 vs. the Cowboys after their bye in Week 5. So far this season, the 28-year-old has struggled to be productive on the ground. He’s averaging (54.5) rushing yards per game in 2023.

A lot of that production came in Week 1 when he had 117 rushing yards vs. the Dolphins. Tonight, Ekeler’s O/U for rushing yards is set at (48.5) vs. the Jets. New York is allowing (144.9) rushing yards per game this season, the second-worst in the NFL only behind the the Broncos. Despite Ekeler’s slow start since his return, Week 9 vs. the Jets is a chance for him to get back on track in the run game.

2. Breece Hall Under 61.5 rush yards @ (-114) via BetOnline

Breece Hall had an injury that cut his rookie season in 2022 with the Jets early. However, the 22-year-old worked hard to be ready for the 2023 season and he’s been their true RB1. The team signed Dalvin Cook as a veteran depth piece, but this is Hall’s backfield. He’s averaging (63.3) yards per game this season.

In 2023, Hall has had two explosive rushing games for the Jets. He had 127 rushing yards in Week 1 and then 177 vs. the Jets in Week 5. Besides those two dominant games, Hall’s production has been limited. He has two games over 125 using yards, but he’s been under 40 yards in every other game this season. His O/U for rushing yards is set at (61.5) v. the Chargers.

3. Keenan Allen Over 6.5 receptions @ (-126) via BetOnline

The LA Chargers will be on the road tonight vs. the Jets and it’s not going to be an easy matchup for the veteran WR Keenan Allen. Mike Williams has been out with a season-ending injury and WR Joshua Palmer is out in Week 9. That means Keenan Allen will be Herbet’s go-to target tonight and he’ll have All-Pro Sauce Gardner covering him.

This season, Allen has been targeted 74 times in seven games. That’s an average of over 10+ targets per game for the 31-year-old. Allen has been incredible for the Chargers in 2023. He has four games with at least seven receptions this season. Additionally, he had a game with 18 catches and 225 receiving yards. Tonight, his O/U for receptions is set at (6.5) vs. the Jets. Allen has gone over that number in four of his seven games this season.

James Harden will make his debut with the Clippers tonight on the road vs. the Knicks - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tonight, the LA Clippers will be on the road to face the New York Knicks. Coming into this game, the Clippers are 3-2 this season. They lost 130-125 to the Lakers in OT last Wednesday. Los Angeles will be trying to get back on track tonight vs. the Knicks who are 2-4 this season.

For the Clippers, they’ll be debuting a new starting five that features a ton of NBA talent. After a trade with the 76ers, LA now has James Harden on their roster. He’ll be starting tonight for the Clippers and will be making his debut with his hometown team. The Knicks are favored (-1) at home vs. Harden and the Clippers.

After being traded to the Clippers, James Harden will make his debut with LA tonight vs. the Knicks

Harden will make his debut tonight vs. the Knicks and will be playing alongside one of his former teammates. The 10-time all-star is teaming up again with Russell Westbrook, now for the third time. They were teammates in Oklahoma City and in Houston. Westbrook and Harden get the chance to share the court together once again. This time with the LA Clippers.

Additionally, Harden will be playing with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard for the first time in his career. George and Leonard have both been with the Clippers since 2019-20. They’ve made two postseason appearances since then and hope that this year’s roster will be able to make their own playoff run. The Clippers certainly have a lot of talent and it will be interesting to see how head coach Ty Lue controls the minutes.

How will James Harden fit into the Clippers’ starting five tonight? It’s hard to predict. Last season, the 34-year-old led the NBA in assists per game (10.7) in his final year with the 76ers. Russell Westbrook is already leading the team with (7.0) assits per game. Harden and himself will have to find a way to play alongside each other and make it work.

Their relationship didn’t end the greatest when he left the Rockets, but they’ll put that in the past. Both of them are still searching for a title and the Clippers might be their last legitimate chance at thus stage in their careers. That all starts tonight when Harden makes his Clippers debut on the road vs, the Knicks.

Knicks News: Julius Randle Is Off To A Historically Bad Start To The 2023-24 Season - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The New York Knicks were able to advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs last season, and won two games in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals before being eliminated by the Miami Heat. It was the best finish by the team in 10 years, and there were reasons for optimism going forward despite the defeat.

Julius Randle Struggling For Knicks Through 6 Games

There wasn’t a lot of optimism surrounding forward Julius Randle, though. He was the team’s leading scorer in the regular season, as he has been every year since 2019-20, and was named an All-Star and was given All-NBA Third Team honors. He finished the 2022-23 season averaging more points than Nikola Jokić, De’Aaron Fox, and Anthony Edwards.

Then the playoffs began, and Randle somehow shrunk when the lights shined the brightest. His scoring average dropped from 25.1 in the regular season to just 16.6 in the playoffs, and he shot an abysmal 37.4% from the field as a whole, and 25.8% from three point range specifically.

The Knicks brought back roughly the same set of characters as they had last season to start the 2023-24 campaign, and there were hopes that Randle’s playoff struggles were an aberration and not a sign of things to come.

This year has started off even worse. The Knicks are struggling out of the gate with a 2-4 record, and Randle may deserve a large portion of the blame for the slow start. His scoring average through six games is down to 13.7 points per game, which would be his lowest total since 2016-17, and his shooting percentage is historically bad.

Shooting Numbers Are Historically Bad

Randle is making baskets at a 27.1% clip so far this year, which is the lowest mark in NBA history of any player that has taken 75+ shots over his team’s first six games.

It isn’t just the shooting percentage woes. Randle has been accused of showing a lack of effort on both sides of the floor, and is being called out in the media for the “selfish” basketball that he has been playing so far this year.

Julius Randle and the Knicks will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday evening inside Madison Square Garden. Newly acquired James Harden is scheduled to make his debut for the visiting team, and they are favored by 1.5 points over New York.

Pistons’ Ausar Thompson made NBA history on Sunday vs. the Suns and continues to shine as a rookie - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The top of the 2023 NBA Draft class was full of talent and a number of rookies are already shining early on. With the fifth overall pick, the Pistons took SF Ausar Thompson as another key piece to their young roster. Thompson did not take the traditional route to the NBA, but that hasn’t stopped him from being an elite talent as a 20-year-old rookie.

On Sunday, Thompson and the Pistons hosted the Phoenix Suns. As a six-foot-seven SF, Thompson is averaging nearly a double-double this season with (11.4) points and (9.4) rebounds per game. Against Phoenix, Thompson had an incredible performance with 14 points, nine rounds, four assists, four steals, and four blocks. He’s only the third rookie in NBA history to ever put up that stat line.

Ausar Thompson is off to a solid start in his rookie season with the Pistons

This season, Ausar Thompson has started all seven games for the Pistons. Detroit has the 8th youngest roster in the NBA in 2023-24 and they’re still finding their way as a team. After the loss on Sunday, the Pistons are 2-5 this season. However, Ausar Thompson’s dominance cannot be overshadowed by Detroit’s poor record early on.

Thompson has been incredible on the defensive end for the Pisotns, leading the team with (2.1) blocks per game. Additionally, Thomson is averaging (1.1) steals in 2023-24. There’s still a lot to work on in his offensive game, but Thompson has quickly proved that he has the potential to be an All-Defensive type of player. He leads all rookies this season with (2.1) blocks per game. More than San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama.

The Pistons have a young core of players this season and Thompson had found a way to fit in quickly. At just 20, his potential is through the roof for how he’s playing as a rookie in 2023-24. If he keeps up his production this year, he could be in the running for first-team All-Rookie. It’s going to be almost impossible for anyone to stop Victor Wembanyama from winning ROY in 2023-24.

NBA Odds: Three Prop Bets For Monday’s Lakers Vs. Heat Game Via BetOnline - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tonight, LeBron James and the Lakers will be on the road to face Jimmy Butler and the Heat. Los Angeles is 3-3 this season and is coming off a loss in their last game. They lost 120-101 on the road to the Orlando Magic. Anthony Davis is leading the team in points (26.3) and rebounds (13.0) per game in 2023-24.

For the Heat, they are 2-4 this season but are coming off a 121-114 win vs. the Wizards. Miami started the season with a win and then proceeded to lose four straight games. Tyler Herro has far and away been Miami’s best offensive player averaging a career-hihg (25.8) points per game. Miami will host the Lakers tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST on NBA TV.

Can the Lakers get over .500 with a win tonight vs. the Heat?

Ahead of Monday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NBA bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Lakers vs. Heat game.

NBA Odds: Prop Bets for Lakers vs. Heat game on NBA TV

1. Anthony Davis Over 12.5 rebounds @ (-113) via BetOnline

In 2022-23, Anthony Davis played in 56 games for the Lakers. He averaged a career-high (12.5) rebounds per game and was a beast on the glass for LA. With their 2023-24 roster, Davis is once again a pivotal piece for the Lakers if they want to have success later in the year. The Lakers also need Davis to stay healthy. He hasn’t played over 60 games in a season since 2019-20. Davis has only played over 60 games once in his time with the Lakers.

This season, Davis is averaging (13.0) rebounds per game. His O/U for rebounds is set at (12.5) tonight vs. the Heat. The eight-time all-star has gone over that number in three of his six games played. Davis and the Lakers will be on the road tonight to face the Heat. Look for Anthony Davis to have a big game overall if the Lakers want to win vs. Miami.

2. Tyler Herro Over 23.5 points @ (-118) via BetOnline

For the past two seasons, SG Tyler Herro has averaged over 20+ points per game for the Heat. With a larger role in 2023-24, Herro is averaging a career-high (25.8) points per game for Miami. He’s one of two players for the Heat, including Bam Adebayo, who average at least 20 points per game this season. Herro is also shooting a career-high (.451) percent from beyond the arc in his first six games.

Tonight, Herro’s O/U for points is set at (23.5) vs. the Lakers. The 23-year-old has gone over that number in four of his games this season. In Miami’s last game, Herro had 24 points in their 121-114 win vs. the Wizards. He’s been light out from deep to start the season and the Heat would love to see him reach his true potential and shoot over 40 percent for the entire season.

3. D’Angelo Russell Over 5.5 assists @ (-107) via BetOnline

With the Lakers’ current roster, D’Angelo Russell is not needed as a primary scorer. Rather, Los Angeles uses him as one of their primary ball handlers and floor spacers. Russell is a true PG who has outstanding court vision. He leads the team in assists per game (6.5) this season, but LeBron James (6.3) is not too far behind him.

Against the Heat, Russell’s O/U for assists is set at (5.5). The veteran PG has gone over that number in four of his six games this season. Russell and the Lakers will be on the road tonight to face the Heat. This game will be televised on NBA TV at 7:30 p.m. EST.

NBA Says Correct Call Was Made In Controversial Ending Between Warriors & Thunder - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The NBA In-Season Tournament got started on Friday night around the NBA, and one of the most entertaining games of the evening happened in Oklahoma City between the Warriors and Thunder. But the game didn’t end without some kind of controversy, but the league has stepped in and said that the referees made the correct call in the congested final moments of the game.

NBA Says Correct Call Was Made In Wild Warriors/Thunder Finish

The two teams went back and forth all night in a high-scoring affair, which featured a raucous crowd that has a history with Warriors forward Draymond Green. The 4th quarter began with the teams tied at 106, and things got even more interesting in the final seconds of the game.

With the score tied at 139, Steph Curry drove into the lane and scooped up an underhand layup that floated over the outstretched arms of Chet Holmgren, which bounced on the rim in suspense. Before dropping in the hoop, Green put his hands near the ball in an apparent attempt to tip it in to the basket.

The referees called basket interference, and it appeared as though the game was headed into overtime. But the call was overturned when the replay appeared to show Green touching the rim as opposed to the ball, and Golden State was awarded the basket, and the victory.

Green Touched The Rim, But Not The Ball

There were questions on social media and in the post game shows about whether the correct call was made, but the league did what they could to put those notions to rest. The NBA released their 2-Minute Report from Friday’s games on Saturday afternoon, and the section regarding the Thunder vs Warriors game says that there was no conclusive basket interference, upon furter review:

There is clear and conclusive evidence Green (GSW) does not touch the ball — although Green makes contact with the rim — contacting the rim, standing alone, does not violate the rule

The Warriors have gotten off to a fast start for the 2023-24 NBA season, and are riding a 5-game winning streak and sitting at 5-1. One of their biggest issues last season was being able to win on the road, and they are already 4-0 in that category thus far.

They will have yet another game away from Chase Center on Sunday as they will visit Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Memphis Grizzlies Drop Their Record To An NBA-Worst 0-6 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

There were some moderate expectations placed on the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2023-24 NBA season. Last year’s campaign was marred by off-court incidents and media sound bites, but there were measures taken in the off-season to improve on those areas, and it was thought that Memphis would at least compete for a top-3 spot in the Western Conference if all went as planned.

Grizzlies Fall To 0-6, Worst Record In The NBA

It has not. It was known that there would be some adjusting to having to play without Ja Morant, who would be serving a 25-game suspension to start the season. The star point guard is being punished for his multiple gun-toting incidents from last year, and he won’t be back until close to Christmas, but there was reason to believe that the Grizzlies could weather the storm until then.

Perhaps the biggest move of the offseason for Memphis was the acquisition of Marcus Smart. The defensive-minded point guard spent the first nine years of his career with the Boston Celtics, and he is just one year removed from being the first guard to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award since 1996. And while he does currently lead the league in steals per game and has upped his scoring average, he hasn’t made enough of a difference to keep the team from falling to 0-6.

Defensive-Minded Team Not Excelling On Defense

In fact, the Grizzlies have the two most recent winners of the DPOY award, but rank 24th in points allowed and are dead last in opponent’s 3-point percentage.

Their shooting woes are partly to blame. They attempt the third-most three pointers of any team, but rank 22nd in three pointers made. Luke Kennard, who is typically one of the more accurate deep ball shooters in the NBA, has made just two threes so far this year on 17 attempts, good enough for a shooting percentage of 11.8%. Smart is shooting 30% from deep.

The Grizzlies are currently in the middle of a back-to-back against the Portland Trail Blazers, who defeated Memphis in overtime on Friday. The second game will be played on Sunday and will give the Grizzlies a chance to be the final NBA team to pick up a victory.

Clippers Now Have 4 Of The 12 Highest Paid NBA Players Ever On Their Roster - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Los Angeles Clippers had one of the most expensive rosters in the NBA last season. Only the Golden State Warriors forked out more cash for their players than Steve Balmer did, and he doubled down on his investment this year by adding James Harden and the $35.6 million that he is owed for this season.

Clippers Have Over $1.2 Billion In Career Earnings On Their Roster

There are on-court questions about whether the Harden experiment will work out for the Clippers. He joins a trio of players that are former all-stars and MVPs, but arguably past their prime collectively, and who have failed to make any kind of serious playoff run in their time together. Harden has seen his numbers take a dip over the past couple of seasons, and there are many around the league that believe his skill set is no longer worth the headache that he brings to an organization.

Whether it works out or not has yet to be seen, but the Clippers will be a wildly expensive team regardless of the results. They not only will be handing out nearly $200 million in salary this year, but they now employ 4 of the 12 highest-paid NBA players in the history of the league.

Westbrook’s Big Pay Cut Still Keeps Him At #5

LeBron James is in first place on the list by a wide margin, as he is scratching the $500 million mark in career on-court earnings. At #5 on the list is the first Clippers player in Russell Westbrook, who has earned over $340 million in his 16-year career. The point guard is now modestly paid in comparison to his previous contracts, as he is earning under $4 million this year after taking a pay cut to remain in Los Angeles.

Slightly behind Westbrook on the list is Harden, who will pass his 3-time teammate on the list next season and is currently sitting at $338 million. Paul George comes in at #9 on the highest earnings list at $305 million, and Kawhi Leonard is the 12th highest-paid NBA player of all-time with $276 million in career earnings.

In terms of take-home cash for the 2023-24 season, only George and Leonard appear for the Clippers in the top-10.

NBA Odds: Three Prop Bets For Friday’s Knicks Vs. Bucks Game Via BetOnline - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tonight, the New York Knicks will be on the road to face the Milwaukee Bucks. Jalen Brunson and the Knicks are 2-3 this season and lost their last game on Wednesday night. They started the season with a loss and have alternated wins and losses since then. If the Knicks stay on that pace, tonight should be a win vs. the Bucks.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are 2-2 through their first four games in the 2023-24 season. Milwaukee made a big-time trade this offseason for Damian Lillard. He’s been solid so far this season but could be playing to a higher level. Lillard could still be getting used to playing with a new group of teammates. Team chemistry can only get stronger as the season progresses.

The Knicks will be on the road to face the Bucks tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST

Ahead of Friday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NBA bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Knicks vs. Bucks game.

NBA Odds: Prop Bets for Knicks vs. Bucks on ESPN

1. Damian Lillard Over 3.5 threes @ (+112) via BetOnline

Damian Lillard spent 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers before requesting a trade this offseason. After patiently waiting, he found himself on the Milwaukee Bucks, playing with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. To start his career with Milwaukee, Lillard has been a bit underwhelming offensively. He’s averaging just (21.3) points per game compared to (31.2) last season.

Even his three-point shooting is down this season. Lillard shot (.371) percent from beyond the arc in 2022-23. In four games with the Bucks this season, he’s shooting (.290) percent from deep. The veteran PG is still getting used to his new team and the threes will start falling eventually. He’s one of the best three-point shooters of all time. Tonight, his O/U for three-pointers made is at (3.5) vs. the Knicks.

2. Jalen Bruson Under 31.5 points, rebounds, and assists @ (-112) via BetOnline

Last season, media members around the league through Jalen Brunson was snubbed from the all-star game. The 27-year-old averaged a career-high in points, assists, and three-point percentage. He didn’t let that stop him from having an incredible season and helping lead the Knicks to win a playoff series.

In 2023-24, Brunson’s numbers have been down compared to last season. Tonight, his O/U for points, rebounds, and assists are set at (31.5) vs. the Bucks. Through his first five games of the season, Brunson’s only gone over that number once. Taking Brunson’s under for points, rebounds, and assists is a strong bet.

3. Brook Lopez Over 10.5 points @ (-109) via BetOnline

The veteran big man Brook Lopez is currently in his 16th professional season. His sixth with the Milwaukee Bucks. Lopez is 35-years-old and his role has reduced this season with a new coaching staff. He’s playing in only (23.8) minutes per game compared to (30.4) last season. It’s been an adjustment for him, but that gives Lopez a chance to give even more effort in the restricted minutes he does play.

This season, Lopez is averaging (10.8) points per game. In 2022-23, he averaged (15.9) points per game. Tonight, his O/U for points is set at (10.5) vs. the Knicks. Lopez has gone over that number in three of his four games played this season. However, he failed to do it on Wednesday night vs. the Raptors, only scoring six points in 17 minutes played.

In the 2023 NBA Draft lottery, the Spurs were lucky enough to get the first overall pick. Taking Victor Wembanyama was an easy choice for San Antonio. So far, the 19-year-old has been incredible for the Spurs through his first five games. Last night, Wembanyama put on a show vs. the Suns and helped the team get a win.

Victor Wembanyama is truly one of a kind and nobody can replicate what he does. He’s played only a handful of games, but his skill level is already through the roof. Against the Suns, Wembanyama scored a career-high 38 points. He also had 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks. Wemby made NBA history with that stat line vs. the Suns.

With each game he plays, Victor Wembanyama continues to get more and more comfortable with the NBA

The San Antonio Spurs had 22 wins in the 2022-23 season. Through their first five games of 2023-24, they already have three wins. Victor Wembanyama has already changed the trajectory of the Spurs’ outlook for the future. We’ve seen only a small sample size, but Wembanyama looks like the real deal.

Through his first five games, he’s averaging (20.6) points, (8.0) rebounds, (1.6) assists, (1.4) steals, and (2.2) blocks. Wemby does a little bit of everything for the Spurs and he already looks like a future all-star. He joins Shaquille O’Neal as the only player to have 100 points and 10 blocks in their first five career games. Elite company for Wembanyama to be in at such a young age.

Teams can try and gameplan for Wembanyama, but it’s not easy to stop him. There are no limits to his game. Wembanyama can dribble like a guard and also has an incredible touch for someone who’s seven-foot-four. Shooting (.320) from beyond the arc at his size is impressive and there’s only room to grow. San Antonio’s next game is this Sunday at home vs. the Toronto Raptors at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Zach LaVine On Chicago Bulls: “We Gotta Make This Work” - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Chicago Bulls are off to a 2-3 start to the 2023-24 NBA season, a record that typically isn’t a cause for much concern. But there have been plenty of eyes on the Bulls and their current situation, and there are already signs that the current core of players may not be together for very long.

Bulls Players Voice Opinions About 2-3 Start To The Season

Reports of the players calling a “Players Only” meeting after the very first game of the season have been refuted. An opening night, 20-point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder was enough for the team to have what Zach LaVine has described as a “basketball conversation”, but has reiterated that there was no Players Only gathering of any sort.

That doesn’t mean that the team is not concerned. On paper, the Bulls should have one of the more talented starting lineups in the Eastern Conference. They have three players who are former all-stars in LaVine, DeMar DeRozen, and Nikola Vucevic, but the trio has never gelled in any way in order to turn them into contenders.

LaVine recently spoke to Yahoo Sports, and had the following to say about the situation:

“You know, we’re on our third year now, and I’ve been saying since training camp: It’s time to put pen to paper. If it don’t work, we understand the business of basketball. We have three All-Star players. We gotta make this work, from top to bottom. It’s not just the players. We gotta make this click.”

Is Missing Lonzo Ball A Major Factor?

One of the easy targets to place blame on would be the absence of Lonzo Ball, whose future in the league is in question due to his leg injuries. The team’s core was at its best when Ball was on the floor, and they showed plenty of promise during the 2021-22 season, when they spent 37 of 56 days in first place in the Eastern Conference between January 1st and February 25th.

Things haven’t been the same without the point guard, and there have been reported discussions among the three former all-stars about one or more of them being shipped off before the trade deadline is the season doesn’t take a positive turn.

Chicago has a tough game coming up this weekend as they travel to play against the defending champion Denver Nuggets, but play 7 of their next 8 games at home, with the only road contest being a short trip up to Milwaukee.
